If you go to Seattle for the first time, or if you do not know the city well, I would recommend a tour. I had time to Seattle many, many, and I still enjoy the tour. For you sports fans, I will for a moment, an incredible tour. Whether you think you or a loved one family, but Seattle has great speed to your situation.

Family Fun Tour

During this first tour is fun for all, isespecially fun for families. You can tour Seattle by land and sea in a cool World War II amphibious vehicle with Ride the Ducks of Seattle.

You start in the country meets the city of Seattle, and wrap around to start looking at boats in Lake Union's famous house, and more.

Rejoice Aviator

Sure, you can visit the Seattle Sea in the country, but why not air? Olde Thyme Aviation offers a wonderful fantastic flight. To begin with, is formed ina leather jacket and sunglasses. The plane? How about with a classic double-decker?

The double-decker bus is fully restored and ready, life will take you on a tour of yours. Enjoy the fresh air as you look down on Seattle Seattle. The donor site is the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field.

Chinatown Delight

Even if they are in Asia, China Town is a fantastic, interesting place. Chinatown Discovery Tours can customize a personal tour of this fascinatingArea.

As the saying goes, you can "nibble your way around Chinatown." You will be immersed in music, herbalism, acupuncture and shopping. This is a unique tour.

Sports Fan's Tours

Okay, sports fans are the tour. While I can not imagine anyone not a fan or Seattle Seahawks Seattle Mariners, it's okay if you do not. Qwest Field, where the Hawks play, and Safeco Field, where the M's play, which will offer special toursLove.

If a game is in progress, just place your head and that's all. Now you can get a complete tour Qwest Field that the field will guide you through the luxury suites, club house and visitors.

But not enough. Safeco Field is right next to Qwest Field. With this tour you visit the press box, luxury suites, club house and trade visitors. They also see the retractable roof of this thing is awesome.

Enjoy the architecture

Finally,You can wrap your stay in Seattle doing a ride from Seattle Architecture Tours.

As you may have guessed, this tour is about the architecture of Seattle. Personally guided tours explore different buildings in Seattle, including the buildings of downtown, skyscrapers, historic theaters and more.

The tours change with the season and are cheap. For example, the skyscraper tour, in about 2 hoursThe length is only $ 15 – $ 17 There is a $ 2 discount for early registration.

If you are interested, I recommend the Architecture Foundation in Seattle on the site for all the details, so you can line up a round or two with your visit.

In the heart of the Cascade Mountains of Washington State sits Lake Wenatchee, a mountain lake setting that attracts thousand of sightseers and is a hub of recreational opportunities. The Lake Wenatchee area offers many things to do and is surprisingly easy to get to.

Lake Wenatchee is centrally located in the state and is accessible from either side of the state via Highway 2. Travelers from the Seattle are will most likely be coming over Stevens Pass in the west, while travelers from Eastern Washington will come via the town of Wenatchee or Blewett Pass. The lake is 244 feet deep at its deepest and is approximately 6 miles in length with just over 13 miles of shoreline. Lake Wenatchee is fed by the White River and the Little Wenatchee River, along with snow run off from the surrounding mountains. Lake Wenatchee empties on the east end into the Wenatchee River which flows down through the towns of Leavenworth, Cashmere, and Wenatchee before emptying into the Columbia River.

Boating and fishing are available on the lake itself, along with camping at a number of different locations. On the shore, right at where the lake drains out into the Wenatchee River, is Lake Wenatchee State Park. The State Park is divided by the Wenatchee River into a north and south section, the south section having the boat dock, beach, and roped off swimming area. The beach area can be crowded on hot summer days with campers and locals alike cooling off in the beautiful mountain water. Before entering the south section of Lake Wenatchee State Park you drive through the Nason Creek Campground. Nason Creek flows through this small campground and then into the Wenatchee River. Just before the entrance to the state park, the road takes a left, if you were to follow this for three to four miles it would lead you to Glacier View Campground near the west end of Lake Wenatchee. Many of Glacier View?s campsites sit right on the shoreline of the lake. There is also a short hike to Lost Lake that starts at a trailhead near the Glacier View Campground. Lost Lake is fishable and provides a wonderful glacier-fed swimming experience. More hiking is available nearer to the State Park via the Nason Creek Trail.

Camping and hiking are also available to the west of Lake Wenatchee up the White River and Little Wenatchee River drainage areas. The campgrounds you find in this area are more primitive in what they offer, but they are also more secluded and private. In this direction you can access hikes that link up with the famous Pacific Coast Trail (PCT) that runs from Canada to California, or take smaller hikes to Twin Lakes and elsewhere. Forest service and logging roads are also plentiful in this area. West of Lake Wenatchee, back on Highway 2, will lead you to Stevens Pass which offers skiing in the wintertime.

To the north of Lake Wenatchee lies Fish Lake and true to its name that is what it is known for. There are many rental opportunities at Fish Lake for both boats and cabins to stay overnight in. Beyond Fish Lake you access the Chiwawa River area known for its trail system which is usable by foot, mountain bike, dirt bike, and horse depending on what area you are in. For the hiker with the longer endurance, trails in this area also network their way over the Entiat and Chelan Mountains extending to Lake Chelan, and the towns of Lucerne, Holden Village, and Stehekin, none of which are accessible by outside roads, and also into the beautiful Entiat River Valley.

Hiking, rock climbing, and camping are available to the south of Lake Wenatchee in the Icicle River Canyon. The Icicle River empties into the Wenatchee River at the town of Leavenworth. Many of the state?s, if not the country?s, most beautiful hiking trails can be found outside of Leavenworth in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area. Hiking and camping permits are needed for most parts of this area as a way of limiting the impact of people on this treasured environment. The Icicle Canyon also offers rock climbing possibilities at a number of sites. Hiking and snowmobiling are available activities in the Blewett Pass region which is also south of Lake Wenatchee. The town of Leavenworth is a shopper?s paradise with its Bavarian themed shops and restaurants, fun to be had by all.

To the east of Lake Wenatchee, past Leavenworth, outdoor activities continue to be possibilities. Hiking and mountain biking trails can be found outside of the town of Cashmere in the Mission Creek area, rock climbers can have a go at all that Peshastin Pinnacles State Park has to offer, and of course there is fishing and boating on the mighty Columbia River that flows right by Wenatchee, the largest city in the region.

From alpine skiing to mountain biking, from horseback riding to rock climbing, it is difficult to find an equal to the diversity that this area has to offer. The Lake Wenatchee area has something to offer both the outdoor recreation enthusiast, and the casual sightseer or camper alike.

In 2003, a ferry in New York City struck a pier in Staten Island, killing eleven and injuring more than seventy. In 2005, a ferry in British Columbia missed the dock and crashed into small boats in the marina. And more recently, a ferry in the Red Sea sank, claiming the lives of over one thousand passengers. Just a few days previous to that disaster, a ferry in Indonesia sank, killing dozens. All of these tragedies beg the question: how safe are ferries? Ferries are popular with tourists, considering them a scenic break from crowded highways, but should you entrust yourself and your family to a ferry?

Ferries in developed countries are, relatively speaking, safe ? in fact, in the US traveling by ferry is far safer than traveling by car. In the US, ferries operate in forty States, and in 2002 ridership exceeded one million in several large US cities (including Seattle, New York City, San Francisco, and Boston). Seattle, which has the largest US ferry system, sees approximately 26 million passengers each year. All the ferries all operate under specific procedures and safety standards laid out by state and federal authorities, some of which have been updated since the 2003 crash in New York.

But ferries in Europe and the US have a new burden to consider, as well: terrorism. Since September 11, all modes of mass transit are coming under intense scrutiny by governmental organizations, and this includes ferries. Often times operating with the same number of staff, ferries are being required to check and re-check both passengers and their vehicles for anything suspicious. These new tasks are controversial in some areas, especially in ferry systems already crowded, where the additional security is seen as a hassle and time-suck. In the past few years, the US Coast Guard has struggled with balancing the demands for both safety and time and staff efficiency. The new anti-terrorism regulations will have the highest impact on large US and European ferry systems.

While the new regulations represent a hassle in developed countries, ferry regulation in developing nations would be a welcome relief. Ferry systems in developing nations suffer continually from problems such as understaffing, severe overcrowding, aging vessels, and a lack of regulatory standards. As a result, it is not unusual to see repeat accidents in the same rivers and ports, with the same ferry operators. The two worst places to catch a ferry are Somalia and Bangladesh, where ferry accidents are routine. In Bangladesh, roughly 1,000 people die in ferry accidents every year. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has begun a ten-year plan to reduce the number of ferry fatalities, but when this will realistically begin to have an effect on the ferry systems of developing nations remains a question.

In summary, if you are considering traveling by ferry as part of your upcoming vacation, you would do well to consider where your travel will be: In the US, Canada, and Europe, you can take comfort on the fact that you are safer in a ferry than you are in a car and even some planes. But if you are traveling in a developing nation, either do your homework carefully, or stay away from the ferry systems altogether.

The city of Seattle is situated in the eastern area of the state of Washington in Northwest America, between the waters of the Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Known for its appealing atmosphere and emergence as the USA?s city of the 1990s, Seattle?s waterfront is its main attraction and this lies along the Alaskan Way, although the city does contain a number of must-see sights.

Seattle?s community is built on commerce, fishing and timber, greatly influenced by the nearby Boeing aerospace company. Full of gourmet coffee shops, museums, art galleries and a lively nightlife, the city now also celebrates an important tourism industry.

Seattle is a large cosmopolitan city, covering around 90 square miles / 233 square kilometers, with a population of almost 600,000. The city incorporates many smaller communities and important, historical neighborhoods. Amongst these locations are the Ballard, Belltown, Capitol Hill, Pike Place Market, Freemont, Greenlake, Pioneer Square, Queen Anne, SODO and University districts.

Seattle Tourism:
Tourist attractions in Seattle are varied and impressive, making Seattle an excellent vacation destination. Facilities include many notable landmarks and monuments, museums and art galleries, parklands, recreational activities and insightful guided tours of the city. Top attractions include the Boeing Factory, Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, Fisherman’s Terminal, the Smith Tower Observation Deck, Hing Hay Park, Safeco Field Stadium, the Seahawks Exhibition Center and the Seattle Center ? both a cultural center and popular amusement park constructed for city?s World Fair, which was held in 1962.

Seattle is perhaps best known for its eye-catching Space Needle, which towers around 150 meters / 490 feet on the city skyline, offering spectacular views. City museums worth a visit include the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, the Museum of History and Industry, the Science Fiction Museum and the Seattle Art Museum (SAM). Popular parklands in the Seattle area include Discovery Park, Freeway Park, Green Lake Park and the Washington Park Arboretum.

Seattle Transport:
Around Seattle, public transport provides a number of affordable options, including Amtrak trains, Greyhound and regional buses, and boats from Canada. One of the most popular ways to travel around the city is on the Metro Transit Buses, which are cheaper outside of peak hours. Renting a car is another transport option favored by many visitors to Seattle, allowing easy exploration of the city and surrounding areas.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport stands around 12 miles / 19 km from the city center and is a bustling transportation hub. With many passengers both arriving and departing each day. The airport provides a number of affordable ground transport options, which include shuttle buses, taxis, car rental options and luxury limousines.

Seattle Hotels:
The city’s central downtown district is often booked solid during the summer months, when hotel rates are at their highest. However, outside of downtown Seattle you will find many further hotels, which are more reasonably priced and just a short distance from the city center. Room rates are also often reduced during the rainy season, from October to April, and at weekends. Bed and breakfast accommodation in Seattle is both affordable and popular with visitors, with a number of options being located close to th e waterfront.

Seattle Restaurants:
Seattle takes its coffee very seriously and is famous for being the origin of Starbucks, with the first store still in operation at Pike Place Market. Many other stylish coffee shops and espresso bars can be found throughout the city, together with an abundance of restaurants and dining options. Restaurants in Seattle cater for all palates and many are concentrated along the waterfront, where seafood is a particular specialty. The northwestern side of the city is another popular dining location, with restaurants offering Pan-Asian, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican and more traditional American cuisine.

Seattle Shopping:
Seattle is a popular shopping destination offering a large range of major shops and stores. Facilities include a number of famous designer outlets, vast department stores, boutiques and large shopping malls. Popular shopping areas include Broadway Avenue East, First Avenue, Maynard Avenue, Pike Street, Pine Street, Queen Anne and West Dravus, Seneca and Fourth Avenue and University Way.

Seattle Weather:
The Seattle area is known for its rain, although this is a little unfair, since the city’s annual rainfall averages less than 40 inches / 100 cm. Much of the weather is both fine and mild, with hot summers and cooler winter weather. Temperatures are hottest during the months of July and August, peaking at around 25?C / 77?F. January is the coldest month, when temperatures during the daytime average 8?C / 46?F, well above freezing.

North Central Washington provides for one of the widest variety of recreation and scenic opportunities that can be found in one region. There are snow-capped mountains, glacier-fed lakes, rivers, and streams, and arid desert areas as well. Whether exploring the Okanogan highlands to the north, the Cascade Mountains to the west, or the sage covered coulees to the east there is plenty to see and do in North Central Washington. The communities of North Central Washington offer weekend festivals and holiday celebrations throughout the year and out of town visitors are welcome to be part of the excitement. There is a rich local history surrounding the entire region and dating back to before European settlers set foot in the area. The North Central Washington area invites visitors to explore its resources thoroughly, but here are fifteen things you may not have known about North Central Washington.

1.The Bavarian town of Leavenworth was named for Charles Leavenworth, president of the Okanogan Investment Company, who purchased the area that is present day downtown Leavenworth, WA.

2.The city of Cashmere was originally known as Mission, as it was a site of numerous religious settlements.

3.Before 1886, the area of land from Chelan to the Canadian border was called the Columbia Indian Reservation; President Grover Cleveland did away with this reservation in 1886.

4.The island that sits in Lake Wenatchee, just off the shore of the State Park, is named Emerald Island.

5.Lake Chelan measures 50.4 miles in length while averaging a width of only 2 miles.

6.Approximately 70% of the land in Okanogan County is owned by the State and Federal government.

7.The Grand Coulee Dam was used in the Harrison Ford movie, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

8.The Pacific Coast Trail (PCT), a hiking trail allowing continuous hiking from Canada to California passes through the North Cascades National Park.

9.In 1909, 60% of the sheep raised in Washington State were summered in the Wenatchee National Forest.

10.The community of Chesaw, located about 25 miles east of Oroville, is the only town in the United States named after a Chinese settler.

11.The first non-stop flight across the Pacific Ocean ended with a landing in a most unlikely of spots, East Wenatchee?s Fancher Field.

12.Okanogan County did not have its first stoplight installed until the early 1980?s.

13.The Columbia River has eleven dams on it from its beginning in Canada to where it empties into the Pacific Ocean. Five of those dams, almost half, lie in North Central Washington. (Grand Coulee, Chief Joseph, Wells, Rocky Reach, and Rock Island)

14.In 1880, the United States Army maintained Camp Chelan at the current site of the city of Chelan. Camp Chelan lasted one year and was abandoned as it was deemed too remote to conveniently get troops into and out of.

15.The Rock Island Dam was the first dam to be constructed on the Columbia River.

Experiencing all that North Central Washington has to offer in one visit is nearly impossible. From recreational opportunities like boating, camping, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, and more; to experiencing the scenic wonders of Lake Chelan, Dry Falls, Grand Coulee Dam, and others, there is something in North Central Washington for everyone.
